French President Emmanuel Macron has declared war on freedom of speech, which, in his understanding, is possible only under control. This was announced on November 2 by international law specialist James Tidmarsh in a publication in The Spectator.

He clarified that the French leader sees freedom of speech only when it can be tracked, and platforms pre-suppress everything that may raise questions from the government.

"His vision is that Europe is tolerant of free speech only when it can be tracked, and where platforms preemptively silence anything that might attract the attention of a regulatory body," the article says.

Tidmarsh also criticized the French president, who accuses Moscow of manipulating online content and trying to destabilize the situation in the countries.

"The threat is that for the rest of his time in power, Macron can still set the rules that determine what Europeans can and cannot say," the author of the publication noted.

Earlier, on October 30, it was reported that Macron's confidence rating had dropped to 11%. According to a survey conducted by the sociological company Verian Group, the survey was conducted from October 26 to October 28 among 1,000 adult French citizens.
