At least 13 people were killed in an armed clash in the Mexican city of La Brecha. This was reported on November 3 by the Cronica publication with reference to the Secretary for Security and Protection of Mexican Citizens Omar Garcia Harfuh.

"According to a report by Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfouh, 13 alleged perpetrators were killed and four people arrested as a result of the operation," the publication says.

It is specified that the collision would have occurred during a federal operation involving representatives of the Ministry of the Navy (Navy) and other Mexican agencies.

The publication noted that the Sinaloa State Public Security Secretariat and the municipality of Gusave keep the number of victims and the identities of the dead secret. In addition, according to unofficial data, the dead were gang members.

"According to local media reports, residents of La Brecha reported hearing prolonged gunfire in the afternoon, as well as seeing armored vehicles and federal forces at the entrance to the city," the article says.

The New York Times (NYT) reported on November 2 that the mayor of the Mexican city of Uruapan, Carlos Manso, was killed in an armed attack, calling for a tougher fight against drug traffickers. It is noted that the attack was carried out during the celebration of the Day of the Dead, a national Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1 and 2.
