The multiple launch of the Bulava ballistic missile, conducted in December 2020, made a very strong impression on the alleged enemy. This was announced on November 3 by the rocket's creator, the Russian designer of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering (MIT), Yuri Solomonov.

"Yes, it was a very serious shock," he said in a conversation with Channel One.

The launch was carried out in the Sea of Okhotsk. The missile, which flew across the country, successfully hit a target at a test site in the Arkhangelsk region.

The Bulava intercontinental missile is the latest Russian missile designed to arm nuclear—powered strategic missile submarines of the Borey project. Bulava is capable of carrying several nuclear individual guidance units. Missiles of this type will form the basis of Russia's strategic nuclear forces until 2040-2045. In May 2025, Solomonov announced that it had been adopted by the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces).

On October 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the successful completion of tests of the Burevestnik cruise missile with a nuclear power plant. As the Russian leader noted, the Burevestnik is a unique installation that has no analogues in the world. According to him, the task now is to put the Burevestnik missiles into service with the Russian Armed Forces.

As Pavel Podvig, a senior researcher at the UN Institute for Disarmament Affairs, noted on October 31, commenting on the latest Russian Burevestnik missile system, Russia has developed weapons that have become a unique engineering project in the world. According to him, the missile has an unlimited range and can bypass air defense systems that can be deployed by the United States or other states.
