Belarusian peacekeepers can be deployed in Ukraine, if necessary, and the relevant decision will be made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. This was announced on November 2 by Alexey Skobey, head of the Department for International military cooperation and peacekeeping at the command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus, in an interview with the STV television channel.

"It all depends...… it depends on how the parties will make decisions among themselves. We are always ready to help them, at the request of both sides. In any case, one or the other side should apply to this organization, if they want it to be under the auspices of the United Nations, and declare that it is necessary to deploy a peacekeeping contingent on the territory," said Skobey.

He added that Belarus' participation would be determined by mutual agreement of the countries, and preparations for the possible deployment of peacekeepers were already underway.

Earlier, on October 14, it was reported that Belarus insists on ending the Ukrainian conflict right now, otherwise Ukraine may disappear. Lukashenko said that Ukraine must exist as a sovereign, independent state and that he stands for an immediate end to the conflict, otherwise this independent state may disappear.
