The Russian balalaika is a symbol of the national, national musical culture of the country. This was announced on November 2 by Honored Artist of Russia Dmitry Dmitrienko at the session "Balalaika: Three Strings of the Russian Soul" held at the Rossiya National Center as part of the International Festival "Peoples of Russia and the CIS".
"It is the symbol of the national academic musical art, the symbol of our national national musical culture, one of the most striking symbols, collective symbols is the Russian balalaika," said the artist.
He added that such events are of particular importance for the future of society.
During the session, Andrey Mayorov, a student of the Gnessin Music College, demonstrated his performing skills on the balalaika. He told Izvestia that the folk instrument attracted his attention back in kindergarten.
"The interest is primarily in her abilities. She can play in almost any musical genre. It mostly gets me hooked. And there are difficulties in every tool <...> here they can be listed for a very long time," the student summed up.
In July, the ancient Demyanovo estate hosted the Tchaikovsky Night Festival, which is dedicated to the 185th anniversary of Tchaikovsky's birth and the 175th anniversary of his younger brother Modest Tchaikovsky, the author of the libretto for the opera. As part of the project, the opera Iolanta was presented in the author's version by Yuri Bashmet, People's Artist of the USSR, Conductor and Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation.
