NI pointed to the Iskander's ability to bypass the American Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine

The modernization of the Iskander operational and tactical missile systems has allowed Russian troops to effectively overcome Ukraine's air defense systems, including American Patriot batteries. This was reported on November 1 by The National Interest (NI) magazine.

According to the publication, the missiles have the ability to change the flight path already during the movement towards the target. This feature makes them extremely difficult to intercept.

The material indicates that the Iskander-M missiles follow a quasi-ballistic trajectory, performing sharp maneuvers and diving at the final stage. These actions reduce the ability of Patriot radar systems to respond to a threat in a timely manner.

Earlier, on October 2, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, a former special forces officer, told Izvestia that the Iskander tactical missile system was superior to the high-precision Tomahawk subsonic cruise missiles. It was specified that the length of the Iskander reaches 7.3 m, the speed of this rocket is over 900 km/ h.
