Peskov pointed to contractual obligations between Russia and Venezuela.
Russia and Venezuela are bound by contractual obligations. This was announced on November 2 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with TASS.
"We are indeed in contact with our friends from Venezuela," he said, answering a question about reports by the Washington Post newspaper about the alleged request by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for Russian assistance in light of the situation with the United States.
On October 24, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro appealed to US President Donald Trump to abandon military action against Caracas. Maduro stressed the need for "peace forever, without any insane war."
On October 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Russia continues to support the Venezuelan leadership in protecting national sovereignty and is ready to respond to possible threats. Zakharova also stressed that the two countries will continue to work together "shoulder to shoulder."
