In Turkey, it was reported that the founder of Thodex was found dead in prison.
The founder of the bankrupt Thodex crypto exchange, Faruk Fatih Ozer, was found dead in the Turkish Tekirdag prison. This was reported by NTV on Saturday, November 1.
"While it is assumed that Ozer committed suicide, the main prosecutor's office of Tekirdag has launched an investigation into the incident," the publication says.
Ozer was previously sentenced to 11,190 years and 6 months in prison. He was found guilty of creating an organization for the purpose of committing a crime, money laundering and fraud. Ozera was detained in Albania back in 2022 and extradited in 2023. The verdict was handed down by the Antalya Supreme Criminal Court on September 7, 2023.
Earlier, on November 1, the Cuban Prosecutor General's Office charged former Economy Minister Alejandro Gil and others with espionage, bribery and a number of economic crimes. The charges were brought as a result of an almost two-year criminal investigation into Alejandro Gil, who held office from 2019 until he was removed from office in February 2024, as well as a number of other unnamed defendants.
