The Akron football Club scored a 1-0 away victory over Rostov in the match of the 14th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL), Sport-Express reported on November 1.

Tolyatti forward Gilson Benshimol scored the only goal in the 78th minute from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded after the intervention of the VAR due to a foul by Rostov striker Ronaldo, who received a second warning and left the field.

At the end of the match, the hosts scored twice, but both goals — by Egor Golenkov and David Semenchuk — were canceled due to offside after lengthy video reviews.

Thanks to the victory, Akron scored 15 points and rose to 10th place in the standings, while Rostov dropped to 11th place with the same number of points.

Earlier, on October 26, Akron drew with Moscow Lokomotiv with a score of 1:1 in the match of the 13th round of the Russian Premier League. Then Gilson Tavares scored, who opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, and Moscow defender Cesar Montes, who equalized the result in the second half. Thanks to this draw, the Tolyatti team extended its unbeaten streak, and Lokomotiv temporarily became the leaders of the championship.
