The case of the deaths of three workers at Vladivostok CHPP-2 was brought to court

In Vladivostok (Primorsky Krai), the investigation of the criminal case on the deaths of three workers in a fall from a height at the CHP-2 has been completed. The materials were submitted to the court for consideration, the regional Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office reported on Saturday, November 1.

The defendants in the case are the head and foreman of the construction and installation site responsible for carrying out work at Vladivostok CHPP-2. They were charged under Part 3 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of labor protection requirements committed by a person charged with their compliance, which negligently resulted in the death of two or more people, causing serious harm to health").

The tragedy occurred on August 14, 2025, when the chimney wall was dismantled at CHP-2. Brickwork collapsed at a height of more than 22 m, as a result of which five workers fell down. Three men died on the spot, two were seriously injured and were hospitalized.

After the incident, the prosecutor's office launched an inspection, which revealed many violations in the field of occupational safety and health and facts of non-compliance with safety regulations, IA PrimaMedia clarifies.

"A set of response measures has been adopted. By the measures taken, it was possible to ensure the payment of compensation to the victims and relatives of the victims in the amount of more than 8 million rubles," the Primorye prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The criminal case with the approved indictment has been transferred to the Leninsky District Court of the Far Eastern capital. The maximum sanction imposed on the defendants in the article provides for up to five years in prison.
