The first flight of the prototype LMS-901 Baikal aircraft with a Russian engine and propeller is scheduled for the end of 2025. This was announced on November 1 by the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency in its Telegram channel.

"LMS-901 Baikal." The plant's specialists determine the certification basis of the machine in connection with the import substitution of the power plant. The first flight of the prototype with a Russian engine and propeller should take place before the end of the year," the message says.

It is noted that at a meeting of the aviation certification headquarters, with the participation of the head of the department Dmitry Yadrov, the status of work on three aircraft of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) was reviewed. According to Rosaviatsia, the light multipurpose aircraft LMS-192 Osvey successfully completed the mock-up commission: the plant's specialists eliminated all comments and took into account the recommendations.

In addition, it is planned to build the first prototype for the TVRS-44 Ladoga turboprop aircraft by the end of the year. Its first flight is scheduled to take place in mid-2026.

"The arrival of these aircraft to airlines will have a positive impact on the development of local and regional transportation and the aviation sector," the Federal Air Transport Agency concluded.

On October 28, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the import-substituted MC-21 aircraft successfully made its first flight from the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant of Yakovlev Company, part of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Rostec State Corporation. During the test flight, the operation of domestic PD-14 systems and engines was checked.
