The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the US military operations in the Caribbean

Russia strongly condemns the excessive use of US military force in the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking. This was announced on November 1 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.

"Such actions violate both domestic American law (art. I, Section 8 of the US Constitution) and the norms of international law, in particular art. 2, paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, art. 18-22 of the Charter of the Organization of American States, art. 88 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. This is recognized by representatives of a number of countries and international organizations, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights F. Zakharova also stressed that Moscow supports the Venezuelan leadership "in protecting the country's sovereignty in the face of provocations by the United States."
