- Water discharge continues at the Belgorod reservoir after the Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes
Water continues to be discharged at the Belgorod reservoir after the dam was damaged as a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes. This was announced on November 1 by Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of the Belgorod Region, live on the VKontakte social network.
"For more than a week, the enemy has been attacking the dam at the reservoir, and the water discharge is still ongoing. It is an object of federal ownership, and it has the authority of the Federal Agency for Water Resources. The assistance that was needed from the regional government has been provided," the head of the region noted.
On October 25, Gladkov reported that the Belgorod reservoir dam had been damaged as a result of a strike by Ukrainian militants. It was clarified that if the dam was destroyed, there would be a threat of flooding of the floodplain of the river from the Kharkiv region and several streets of settlements in the Belgorod region, where about 1 thousand people live.
On October 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were not hiding their intentions to cause a man-made disaster by flooding settlements along the banks of the Seversky Donets River in order to slow down the advance of Russian troops near Volchansk in the Kharkiv region. According to Zakharova, the strikes were also carried out with the help of drones, which made it possible to significantly increase the scale of damage and attack repair crews strengthening the dam.
