- In Moscow, the artist was sentenced to 1.5 years in a penal colony for bullying a cat.
Moscow's Ostankino Court has sentenced street art artist Ivan Lebedev to 1.5 years in a general regime penal colony for the brutal murder of a cat. This is stated in official court documents.
"To find Lebedev Ivan Vladimirovich guilty of committing a crime under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruelty to animals with public demonstration, including in the media or information and telecommunication networks")," RIA Novosti cites the text of the document.
According to the agency, the artist dropped his own pet named Fifty from the fourth floor, filming what was happening on his phone. Lebedev later posted a video of animal abuse on his Telegram channel. The cat suffered life-threatening injuries and died.
It is specified that Lebedev fully admitted his guilt and repented of what he had done. The court took into account mitigating circumstances: positive characteristics from neighbors and the employer, assistance from a sick mother and assistance to the investigation. After the verdict was announced, the artist was taken into custody in the courtroom.
On October 6, a local resident was detained in Podolsk after severely beating a disabled dog that was moving on a special device due to paralyzed paws. As follows from the video surveillance footage, a man of large build came out of the entrance of the house on Yubileynaya Street. A dog was moving along the sidewalk, and after a resident spoke to it, it started barking at him.
