The Russian Embassy and Consulate General in Cuba are in constant contact with representatives of the Pegas Touristic tour operator, according to which the flight with Russian tourists was diverted from Holguin to Varadero due to Hurricane Melissa. This was announced on November 1 by the press service of the diplomatic mission.

"The Russian Consulate General in Havana and the Embassy are in constant contact with representatives of the tour operator, according to which all Russian citizens are accommodated in hotels," the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission says.

On October 30, the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) announced the redirection of a flight from Moscow to Varadero Airport due to Hurricane Melissa in Cuba. This decision was made for the safety of passengers. There were 433 people on board the ship.

Earlier in the day, PCT reported no reports from tourists in Cuba due to Hurricane Melissa. Hurricane activity is observed in the eastern part of Cuba, in particular in the province of Holguin, where minor damage was caused to hotels that are not popular with tourists.
