- In Karelia, the powers of the head of the Suoyarva district were terminated due to loss of trust
In Karelia, the head of the Suoyarva district, Roman Petrov, resigned prematurely after inspections by the prosecutor's office and the Office of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia in the region due to loss of confidence. This was announced on November 1 by the Prosecutor's Office of the republic.
"A proposal has been submitted to eliminate violations of the law, which has been reviewed and satisfied, and the official has been disciplined in the form of early termination of powers due to loss of trust," the agency's website says.
The check established that Petrov, with the help of his official powers, helped a relative to arrange a plot of land for housing construction, violating the law. He signed lease agreements with another relative, after which ownership of one of them passed to the head of the district and his wife. Municipal contracts were also signed between the local government body and a relative of the official to purchase two apartments for the resettlement of those in need.
"No measures have been taken by the head of the municipal district to resolve the conflict of interest. <...> Oversight measures will continue," the prosecutor's office said.
On his page on the VKontakte social network, Petrov also announced his resignation from his post on November 1.
The day before, the Solntsevsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Alexander Pozdnyakov, former head of the migration department of the Moscow OMVD in the Solntsevo district, to 14 years in prison for organizing illegal migration and accepting bribes. The investigation revealed that Pozdnyakov and his accomplices had been using their official position for a long time to organize an illegal migration scheme.
