NATO has developed a comprehensive strategy for the defense of the alliance's eastern borders called the Eastern Flank Containment Line Concept in coordination with the Supreme Command of the Allied Armed Forces in Europe. This was announced on November 1 by the commander of the North Atlantic Alliance's ground forces, General Christopher Donahue, in an interview with Welt.

Donahue clarified that the document consists of 4.4 thousand pages, and representatives of 32 NATO countries have reviewed it. Drones and autonomous weapons play an important role in defense. In addition, the plan involves the deployment of heavier weapons on the eastern border of NATO, adds "Газета.Ru ".

Donahue also suggested improving the interaction of the armed forces in order to share data. Speaking about Russia's alleged preparations for a conflict with the alliance, the general noted that the military bloc is now in the "zero phase" of readiness. However, after the end of hostilities in Ukraine, the danger of an attack on the territory of NATO countries may increase. Then the alliance will strengthen its presence on the eastern borders, especially in the Baltic States, he said.

On October 30, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken explained that his statement about "erasing Moscow from the world map" referred to the principle of NATO defense, and not the threat of war with Russia. He clarified that NATO is not at war with the Russian Federation and absolutely does not seek to do so.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on October 29 that Western Europe is preparing for a military clash with Russia and is enjoying the atmosphere of military psychosis. A day earlier, Konstantin Vorontsov, deputy director of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the NATO military alliance had stepped up its reconnaissance near Russia's sea and air borders on the Black Sea and the Baltic, and was also continuing to build up military capabilities on the borders with the Russian Federation.
