Michael Jackson's heirs earlier this year paid $2.5 million to five accusers who claimed that the late singer sexually abused them. This was reported on November 1 by the Financial Times (FT) with reference to financial documents and correspondence.

"The payment completed a $16.5 million settlement agreement reached in 2020 with the prosecutors," the newspaper notes.

The accusers have been identified as members of the Cassio family, longtime friends of Jackson. According to the newspaper, in October they publicly stated that the singer had been abusing them for decades since childhood. Jackson's heirs calls these allegations false and an extortion attempt.

It is specified that on November 6, the Los Angeles Supreme Court will hold a hearing on the possibility of public consideration of the claim. The dispute could affect the release of the $155 million biopic "Michael," scheduled for April next year.

On September 20, 2024, FT announced that the legacy foundation of American singer Michael Jackson had sued the former assistant to the artist, who was allegedly abused by the singer as a child and now wants to receive $213 million for his silence. Jackson's heirs accuse the ex-assistant of slandering the artist, as well as in a lawsuit asking for compensation for the damage caused to them and a ban on disclosing information that the parties agreed to keep secret in the 2020 agreement.
