Police in St. Petersburg have detained Alexei Samsonov, producer of the Necrocomicon festival of comic culture, mysticism and fantasy. As a citizen of Kazakhstan, the man faces administrative expulsion from Russia, and a protocol on violation of the regime of stay in the country has been drawn up against him. This was reported by TASS with reference to a law enforcement source.

"Samsonov was administratively detained for an offense under Part 3 of Article 18.8 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation by a foreign citizen or a stateless person of the rules of entry into Russia or the regime of stay (residence) in Russia"). If found guilty by the court, he faces a fine of five to seven thousand rubles with or without administrative expulsion from the country," the agency's source said.

Earlier that day, the organizer of the Necrocomicon festival, Dmitry Trushkov, in an interview with Izvestia, stated that the event could be canceled due to a misunderstanding of the objectives of the event by the administration of the Krasnogvardeysky district.
