In case of hacking of an account in Telegram and WhatsApp (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), it is necessary to end all sessions on unfamiliar devices. This was announced on November 1 in the Telegram channel of the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"If your Telegram account has been hacked and you have access to your account from one of your devices, then end all sessions on unfamiliar devices. Set or reset the cloud password," the agency clarified.

It is also recommended to enable the "automatic session termination" option to increase security and activate two-factor authentication (2FA). If the attacker ended the session, but the account owner was able to log in again, you should end all sessions on unfamiliar devices and delete the account.

"If an account in the WhatsApp messenger is suspected of being hacked, it is necessary to disable all unknown connected devices in the account and change the password," UBK added.

On October 30, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that in order to deceive people, fraudsters began stealing money under the pretext of verifying the authenticity of banknotes. According to the agency, there is no concept of "remote search" in the legislation of the Russian Federation, and the withdrawal of money is possible only with the personal participation of the investigator, witnesses, as well as when processing the relevant documents.
