The most promising environmental professions of the future in the field of ecomonitoring and closed-loop economics will be data scientists, digital twin ecosystem architects, and Earth remote sensing engineers. Izvestia was informed about this on November 1 at the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) following the results of the III International Congress "Russian Engineer" at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

"The development of environmental monitoring is an important task directly related to the quality of life of the population. Bold technological solutions are needed to achieve national goals in this area. They will be able to be implemented by engineers of a new generation — specialists who combine knowledge in the field of ecology, IT, instrumentation and data analytics," said Irina Tarasova, CEO of REO.

According to her, the most sought-after professions in the near future in this field will be: a data scientist engineer who works with large environmental data and machine learning models, a developer of environmental IoT (Internet of Things) systems that create networks of "smart" sensors, as well as a specialist in remote sensing of the Earth, analyzing satellite images.

An architect of digital ecosystem twins, combining ecology and modeling, and a system engineer of integrated monitoring systems, responsible for the entire cycle of equipment operation, will also be in demand, the top manager said.

To train specialists, it is necessary to update educational standards, develop cooperation between universities and businesses and create modern training grounds, which will allow training innovative engineers who will be able to create technologies that will determine the future of Russia's environmental safety, the REO noted.

Similar work is currently being carried out by members of the consortium for the transition to a closed-loop economy, which includes the country's leading universities. It was created in 2021 on the initiative of the REO, the operator concluded.

On October 31, Hristina Sudnik, an entrepreneur and head of the Bahar Design women's clothing brand, told Izvestia how to modernize her professional skills in business and start her business on maternity leave. According to the expert, the main step is to find time in the workplace to develop an idea and start implementing it.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
