According to the results of the first nine months of 2025, a decrease in road traffic accidents was recorded in the Russian Federation. The number of road accidents decreased by 2.4% (94.9 thousand cases), the number of dead — by 3.4% (10.1 thousand people), injured — by 3% (117.7 thousand people). This was announced by the Scientific Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on its website on November 1.
A decrease in the three main accident rates relative to the same period last year was recorded in 32 regions of the country and in the federal territory of Sirius. The death toll decreased in 47 regions and in Sirius, while the death toll increased in 33 regions.
The most widespread types of accidents were vehicle collisions (44.9%), pedestrian collisions (23.1%) and road exits (10.9%). They also account for the largest number of deaths. The main types of traffic violations that caused road accidents were speed inconsistencies with specific traffic conditions (23.3%) and non-compliance with the order of intersections (20.5%). The largest number of deaths was recorded due to speed violations (32.1%) and entering oncoming traffic (27.3%).
One tenth of accidents (10.1%) occurred involving drivers who were intoxicated or refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication. More than a fifth (21.9%) of the total number died in such incidents. However, the number of such accidents decreased by 11.4%, the number of deaths in such accidents — 22.9%, injured — by 10.1%.
Experts noted a decrease in the number of accidents involving injured children under the age of 16 by 1.2%, the number of children killed in them by 3.4%, and injured by 0.8%. At the same time, an increase in the main accident rates involving child drivers of motor vehicles was recorded: the number of accidents increased by 10.2%, the number of dead children - by 15.3%, injured — by 10.1%.
In addition, 659 accidents were registered in which child drivers were driving pit bikes. 23 child drivers were killed in them, and another 753 were injured. There were also 98 accidents involving children driving ATVs (five dead children and 117 injured).
As for personal mobility aids (IMS), over the past nine months, there has been a 24.1% decrease in the number of accidents involving their users, and a 24.4% decrease in the number of injured. However, the death toll increased by 22.7%.
On October 31, deputies submitted to the State Duma a bill proposing to impose administrative liability on officials for illegal fines for car owners. The amount of the fine should be the same as the illegal fine issued, but not less than 5,000 rubles, they believe.
