At least 10 people were killed in a stampede at the Venkateswara Temple in the city of Srikakulam in the state of Andhra Pradesh in southeastern India. This was reported on November 1 by the Hindustan Times newspaper.

"The strong influx of believers into the temple on the occasion of Ekadasi led to overcrowding, which caused a sudden stampede. The injured were immediately taken to hospitals for medical treatment," the article says.

Also, after the stampede, police groups arrived at the scene and took control of the situation, the newspaper noted.

Andhra Pradesh State Minister Nara Lokesh ordered proper assistance to the victims and their families, and regional Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu visited the temple after the incident, the newspaper added.

Earlier, on July 27, The Times of India newspaper reported that at least eight people were killed and 35 others were injured in a stampede at the Mansa Devi Temple in India. It was clarified that among the victims were 20 men, eight women and seven children.
