At least 10 people were killed in a stampede at the Venkateswara Temple in the city of Srikakulam in the state of Andhra Pradesh in southeastern India. This was reported on November 1 by the Hindustan Times newspaper.
"The strong influx of believers into the temple on the occasion of Ekadasi led to overcrowding, which caused a sudden stampede. The injured were immediately taken to hospitals for medical treatment," the article says.
