The United States announced an agreement with China to resume the supply of chips.
The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to conclude an agreement on the resumption of supplies of chips manufactured by the Dutch semiconductor manufacturing company Nexperia BV, whose production facilities are located in China. This was reported on October 31 by Bloomberg, citing sources.
"The United States is going to announce that Nexperia BV will resume chip shipments in accordance with the trade agreement agreed by Donald Trump and [the Chinese leader] Xi Jinping," the publication says.
It is specified that the agreement was reached during negotiations within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
"This move is likely to ease concerns about the supply of microchips that have threatened car manufacturing in Europe and other countries amid a broader trade fight between China and the United States and its allies," the agency stressed.
It was also reported that the White House plans to publish an information bulletin in which it will explain in detail the process of resuming supplies.
The meeting of the leaders of China and the United States was held for the first time since 2019 on October 30 in South Korea and lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes. During the meeting, Trump said that warm relations had been built between the two countries. The leaders of the United States and China have already reached agreement on many issues, and this meeting contributes to the further development of relations.
On the same day, the leaders agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, economy and energy. Xi Jinping noted that the sides exchanged views on important trade and economic issues and reached a consensus on their solution.
