North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Park Myung-ho said that the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula remains an "impossible dream" and attempts to force Pyongyang to give up nuclear weapons are meaningless. This was reported on October 1 by KCNA Watch.

"We will patiently show that denuclearization is a pipe dream that can never be realized, even if it is talked about a thousand times," Park Myung-ho said.

Earlier, on September 29, it was reported that North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Song Kyong stated at the general political discussion of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly that the DPRK's strategic deterrence forces are the guarantor of peace and the balance of power on the Korean peninsula. According to the diplomat, the DPRK's nuclear potential suppresses the desire of Pyongyang's opponents to provoke a military conflict.
