Astrophysicist Loeb suspected the Soviet origin of the space object
Astrophysicist Avi Loeb has suggested that the quasi-satellite 2025 PN7, discovered in August 2025, may represent the remains of a Soviet spacecraft. He announced this on the Medium platform.
2025 PN7 is a celestial body that has been moving in an orbit close to Earth for a long time. Loeb noted that the object has features similar to those of terrestrial origin, and together with a colleague calculated its trajectory. They came to the conclusion that it coincides with the orbit of one of the stages of the launch vehicle that launched the Zond-1 into space, created in the USSR.
"Our assumption needs to be verified. A spectroscopic analysis of the object is necessary to confirm or refute the hypothesis about Zond-1," the scientist emphasized.
