Reuters reported on the Houthis' intentions to try UN staff for ties with Israel.
The Ansar Allah rebel movement plans to bring to trial at least 43 Yemenis who worked in UN structures on charges of involvement in Israeli strikes on the rebel-controlled capital Sanaa. This was reported on October 31 by the Reuters news agency, citing the acting Houthi Foreign Minister, Abdel Wahid Abu Ras.
"The actions taken by the security forces were carried out under full judicial control. The prosecutor's office has been informed at every stage," Abu Ras stressed, adding that the process will be brought "to trial and adjudication."
In recent days, the Houthis have detained at least six UN staff members who remain in custody. In mid-October, Ansar Allah forces entered the UN compound in Sanaa without permission, taking into custody five Yemenis and 15 foreigners, and later released all of them.
Earlier, on October 26, it was reported that the Houthis had arrested three local UN staff members on charges of spying for Israel. There were two women and one man among the detainees. The sources noted that the security and intelligence services in Sanaa are keeping a list of people suspected of collaborating with Israeli and American structures, and are continuing to search for them.
