Preferential recycling will be retained for most Russian cars
The preferential recycling fee coefficient will remain in place for vehicles that make up more than 80% of the Russian fleet. This was announced on October 31 by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
"We maintain a preferential recycling calculation coefficient for the import of foreign cars for our own needs… Even after the upcoming changes come into force, the preferential coefficient will remain for vehicles with an engine capacity of up to 160 horsepower, which is more than 80% of the total Russian fleet at the moment," Manturov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, such a policy has been implemented for many years and allows citizens to maintain access to the most sought-after and mass-produced car models from abroad.
Earlier that day, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported that the entry into force of the new rules for calculating scrap collection for passenger cars was postponed to December. The decision was made taking into account the interests of citizens who have already ordered and paid for cars with engines over 160 hp after the publication of the draft amendments. Postponing the deadline will allow us to complete deliveries on existing orders within the framework of the old rules.
