Trump calls Nigeria a "country of special concern"
On October 31, US President Donald Trump called Nigeria a "country of special concern" because of the mass killings of Christians by Islamists.
"Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this massacre," Trump wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.
The American leader also instructed Congressman Riley Moore, along with Chairman Tom Cole, to address this issue.
On October 1, Trump, the US president, announced that he had sent National Guard units to Oregon due to "worsening lawlessness" and attacks against federal employees. After that, on October 4, Trump demanded that the Governor of Illinois, Jay B. Pritzker, introduce the National Guard to combat crime. In response, the head of the region explained that there was no need for such a measure.
On the same day, the court imposed a temporary ban on sending National Guard troops to Portland as part of Trump's anti-crime initiative. The lawsuit was filed by the leadership of the city and the state of Oregon. The temporary ban will remain in effect until October 18, but may be extended after that.
