- Omdia announced the leadership of Samsung and Apple in the smartphone market in the third quarter
Samsung managed to maintain its leadership in the global smartphone market in the third quarter of 2025. This is stated in the Omdia report on October 31.
According to the data presented in the table, the Korean IT giant shipped 60.6 million devices to the market during the specified period, thus taking a share of 19% in it. The second place is occupied by the American company Apple: the corporation supplied 56.5 million smartphones, its market share was 18%.
China's Xiaomi also got into the top three, selling 43.4 million gadgets, closing the quarter with a share of 14%. In total, 320.1 million smartphones were shipped worldwide in the third quarter. The market has grown by 3% year-on-year.
"The global smartphone market continues to show polarized growth, showing growth in both the budget and premium segments, while the mid—range segment remains weak," Omdia experts summarized.
On September 24, Apple announced that the introduction of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Union (EU) could lead to a deterioration in the quality of user service and the suspension of shipments of certain products to the EU. The company notes that due to DMA requirements, many features and updates for users in Europe will be delayed, and products will lag behind similar products in other regions.
