The President of Syria for the transitional period, Ahmed al-Sharaa, ordered government officials to hand over the keys to luxury cars that they use at their disposal. This was reported on October 31 by the Reuters news agency.

It is noted that this issue was raised back on August 30, when the Syrian leader condemned officials and businessmen who arrived at one of the events at the rebel base in expensive SUVs for a transitional period. It was noted that there were more than 100 of his supporters among them.

"Al-Sharaa ordered civil servants who own luxury cars to give up the keys, threatening otherwise to investigate for illegal income," the publication says.

According to two people present, al-Sharaa rebuked government officials and business leaders after he saw a large number of Cadillac Escalades, Range Rovers and Chevrolet Tahoes parked outside. It is known that several sets of keys were handed over to the president's representatives at the end of the meeting, when people had already begun to disperse.

"I didn't know that the government pays such high salaries! Have you forgotten that you are the sons of the revolution? Were you really seduced so quickly?" the Syrian leader told the audience during the transition period.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with al-Sharaa in the Kremlin on October 15. During the meeting, the Syrian leader said for the transitional period that the Russian Federation would have a serious role in the development of a new Syria. He noted that the new authorities of the country intend to restart relations with Russia.

Later, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani said that there are currently no new agreements between Syria and the Russian Federation, but a revision of previous agreements is needed as the main point of the interstate dialogue. The diplomat added that one of the points of negotiations is the Russian military bases in Syria.
