The Paris Court of Appeal will consider a petition for the release of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy on November 10. This was announced on October 31 by the BMFTV TV channel.

If the court makes a positive decision, Sarkozy will be able to leave the prison in the evening or the next morning.

Christophe Inren, one of Sarkozy's lawyers, said that since his arrest, there have been no legal grounds for his continued detention.

Another defender of the former president, Jean-Michel Darrois, condemned Sarkozy's continued detention, calling the situation a "disgrace." He expressed the hope that the court would restore the reputation of French justice.

On October 21, Sarkozy arrived at the Sante prison in Paris, where he will serve a five-year sentence in solitary confinement. On September 25, it was reported that a Paris court sentenced the former French president to five years in prison in a case of illegal financing of his election campaign from Libya. He was also fined €100,000.
