The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodriguez, said that the United States seeks to control Venezuela's natural resources. This was reported on October 31 by the newspaper Notitarde in the Telegram channel.

"There is no doubt that an ominous threat is currently hanging over Venezuela with the intention of promoting regime change that will allow the US government of America and the imperial hegemon to seize natural resources that belong only to the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela," Rodriguez said at a meeting of Caribbean parliamentarians for peace in Caracas.

He also stressed that the US military actions in the Caribbean pose a threat not only to Venezuela, but also to other countries in the region.

On the same day, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the United States intends to strike targets in Venezuela, which, according to Washington, are used for drug trafficking. It was noted that the potential air operation would focus on facilities located "in the zone of influence of drug cartels" and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. However, US President Donald Trump denied media reports that he had allegedly approved a strike on military installations in Venezuela.

On October 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia continues to support the Venezuelan leadership in protecting national sovereignty and is ready to respond to possible threats. According to her, the two countries will continue to work together "shoulder to shoulder."
