Vladimir Zaitsev, a friend of the actor from the TV series "Glukhar" Anatoly Menshchikov, said that a few months before his death, the Honored Artist of Russia suffered two strokes.

In conversation with aif.ru On October 30, Zaitsev pointed out that the artist had been seriously ill for the past two years, but continued to appear on stage until the end of last season. In the summer, Menshchikov was admitted to the hospital, after which he underwent rehabilitation, but his condition worsened — during this time he suffered two strokes due to heart failure.

Zaitsev noted that Menshchikov was known not only as an actor and reader, but also as the compiler of the famous questionnaire for Taganka Theater artists, which was answered by Vladimir Vysotsky, Leonid Filatov, Valery Zolotukhin and others.

Menshchikov died on October 30 at the age of 76. The press service of the Vakhtangov Theater reported that the actor devoted almost half a century to serving the stage and last appeared on the stage on May 19, 2025 in the play "Smile upon Us, Lord."

Menshchikov was remembered by the general public for his supporting roles, but always vivid and memorable. He played in the films "Walking in Torment", "Put in a word about the poor Hussar", the TV series "Capercaillie" and other films.
