- The Russian Foreign Ministry has protested to Japan over the Joint Exercise 2025 exercises
Japan's actions related to military maneuvers near Russia's Far Eastern borders pose a threat to the country's security. This was reported on October 31 in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The reason for the protest was the Joint Exercise 2025 exercises, which covered the territory of the entire island state, including areas of Hokkaido Island located in close proximity to the Russian borders.
"In this context, concern was expressed that the battery of the Typhon ground-based complex, designed to launch intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles, has not yet been removed from the Japanese archipelago as part of the Japanese-American Resolute Dragon 25 exercises (September 11-25).", — noted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
In this regard, the Russian side stressed that it reserves the right to take the necessary measures to ensure its own security.
Earlier, on October 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on October 30 that the resumption of a full-fledged dialogue with Japan was possible only after Tokyo abandoned its anti-Russian policy. According to her, the Japanese Prime minister's recent speech did not mention anything new in his approach to relations with Russia. It was Japan's unfriendly position that brought bilateral cooperation to a standstill, Zakharova added.
