A court in Moscow arrested historian Tamara Eidelman in absentia (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) for rehabilitating Nazism and spreading fakes about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported on October 31 in the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office.

"She [Tamara Eidelman] has been charged in absentia with two counts of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code (rehabilitation of Nazism) and paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code (public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation)," the prosecutor's office said in a Telegram channel.

According to investigators, on May 5, 2024, Eidelman posted a video of the author's program on social networks, which contains negatively colored statements about the actions of the USSR during World War II, the days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia related to the defense of the Fatherland, as well as about veterans of the Great Patriotic War (WWII).

At the same time, the historian is accused of spreading deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of Russia and its citizens, the department added.

A criminal case on the rehabilitation of Nazism against Eidelman was opened on January 4. At that time, she was accused of committing a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Rehabilitation of Nazism using the Internet"). In addition, at the end of June 2024, the Moscow prosecutor's office opened a case against Eidelman under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Rehabilitation of Nazism committed by a group of persons, by prior agreement or using a network"). The reason was Eidelman's video about Victory Day, in which, according to investigators, she made offensive statements.
