The sensible environment of US President Donald Trump and the positive actions brought by the meeting of the two leaders in Anchorage help the American leader to soberly assess the conflict in Ukraine. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said this on Friday, October 31.

Chepa noted that although Trump's meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Busan did not touch on the conflict in Ukraine, nevertheless, this situation affects the position of the US president in the right direction. The deputy pointed out that the entourage of the American leader also conveys to him a sober assessment of what is happening, which makes it possible to draw the right conclusions.

"I think that the consistent position of [Russian President] Vladimir Putin forces many politicians to reconsider populist, on the one hand, and Russophobic, on the other hand, positions that do not lead to positive changes. I think everyone sees it. Therefore, the situation will probably change," the parliamentarian admitted in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The day before, Fox News reported that Trump had revised his approach to the conflict in Ukraine, which caused concern among European allies. According to the newspaper, the actions of the American leader, including the withdrawal of the American brigade from Romania and the refusal to provide Kiev with Tomahawk cruise missiles, are causing confusion among US partners.

Earlier, on October 29, it was reported that the United States had notified Romania and its NATO allies of a reduction in the number of American troops in Europe, including units based at Mikhail Kogalniceanu. The decision is related to the reassessment of the global position of the US armed forces and Washington's new priorities, as well as the strengthening of NATO's presence on the eastern flank. The information was received on October 29.
