As part of his working visit to the DPRK on October 31, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko held talks in Pyongyang with the country's Minister of Health, Chong Mu Rim, during which the parties discussed cooperation between the states in the field of healthcare and medicine.

"I would like to note the high interest in medicines from Russia, the technologies that we use today in the treatment of patients. Therefore, we believe that our meeting was successful. We look forward to further cooperation with our colleagues from the DPRK," Murashko said.

According to him, relations between the two countries in the field of healthcare are developing in a friendly manner. In addition, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including the supply of medicines and medical products manufactured in the Russian Federation and the training of medical specialists for the DPRK in medical universities of the Russian Federation.

The countries also continue joint professional development programs: doctors from the DPRK have been trained in a number of areas at Russian medical centers. Murashko and Chong Mu Rim discussed the possibility of sending specialists in various fields to conduct workshops and provide practical assistance to patients at medical institutions in the DPRK, which will help improve the quality of medical care and strengthen ties between the Russian and Korean peoples.

In addition, the states will work out issues of cooperation in the field of quality control of medicines. Murashko spoke about the positive experience of using mobile complexes for conducting professional examinations of children and invited colleagues from the DPRK to explore the possibility of using Russian technological and organizational approaches to organizing preventive work in children's groups.

During the visit, the Russian Minister of Health, together with a group of Russian specialists, visited a number of medical facilities, including the new Pyongyang Joint Hospital.

Earlier, on October 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee during a meeting in Moscow confirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. In addition, Lavrov and Choi Song-hee analyzed the current international situation, pointing out that the main reason for the growing tension in the world is the "aggressive actions of the United States and its allies."

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin also met with Choi Song-hee. At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian leader conveyed his best wishes to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The North Korean Foreign Minister assured that she would convey the words of the Russian president.
