Kovalchuk pointed out the impossibility of stopping the Burevestnik missile
The Burevestnik cruise missile is a missile that cannot be stopped. This was announced on October 31 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center.
"In order for us to have the best weapons in the world today, 70 years ago, work began that formed the basis of our current success," he said during the open dialogue "Nuclear Energy for Space" as part of the educational marathon "Knowledge.Science".
According to Kovalchuk, many years of scientific research have contributed to achievements in the creation of the latest weapons technologies.
Separately, he highlighted a 1954 document on the possibility of creating a long-range supersonic projectile aircraft, developed by three Soviet scientists — Igor Kurchatov, Mstislav Keldysh and Sergei Korolev. In his opinion, it was this report that became the starting point for the development of modern nuclear developments.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 29 that the nuclear reactor installed in the Burevestnik rocket is very fast, it starts within minutes and seconds. He also noted that there are no analogues of the Burevestnik with a nuclear installation in the world. The President instructed to determine which class of weapon the missile belongs to, as well as to prepare the infrastructure for deploying the missile system in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The Chinese Sohu portal noted that the new Burevestnik cruise missile, which was tested by Russia, is capable of strengthening the country's military power. It has a long range, can carry a nuclear charge, and is also capable of bypassing air defense systems and reaching targets with great speed. As the media wrote, the disclosure of information about the new missiles would make Western countries "tremble with fear."
