The head of the Cancer Center "SM Clinic", oncologist, hematologist, radiotherapist of the highest category, MD, Professor Alexander Seryakov told on Friday, October 31, which products cause colorectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a malignant disease in which a tumor occurs on the mucous membrane of any part of the colon (colon, sigmoid or rectum). The specialist noted in an interview with the Health Mail that this type of cancer is the most common among all cancers of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). It ranks third in the world in the total number of cancer cases.

Some dietary habits may become a risk factor for developing CRC, in particular, eating red meat (pork, beef, lamb). According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a daily intake of 100 grams of red meat increases the risk of CRC by 17%.

Daily consumption of 50 g of low-quality and surrogate products (sausages, sausages, long-term milk, thawed and frozen meat treated with chemicals several times) increases the risk of CRC by 18%.

The risk is the frequent consumption of fried, smoked and cooked meat, as well as products containing significant amounts of various preservatives. In addition, an imbalance between animal and vegetable protein is harmful in favor of products that contain animal protein.

According to Seryakov, in order to reduce the risk of CRC, it is recommended to consume more fiber-containing foods. In addition, it is necessary to eliminate the use or at least reduce the amount of surrogate meat, he concluded.

Earlier, on September 23, Alexander Ginzburg, director of the Gamaleya Center, announced that all documents for obtaining permission to produce personalized cancer vaccines had been submitted to the Russian Ministry of Health. He clarified that groups of volunteers have already been formed and specialists are ready to start treatment within a month and a half.

In August, Ginzburg said that in the coming months, melanoma patients will begin receiving a cancer vaccine created in Russia. 360.ru .
