The world-famous art object was restored in Yekaterinburg
The legendary "Keyboard Monument" by artist Anatoly Vyatkin has reappeared in the center of Yekaterinburg. It was returned to its original place after the first restoration in its life. The art object was updated for the 30th anniversary of the keyboard.
Nikita Kharisov, creative director of the Atom development company, said that at first they had to remove many layers of paint from the keys and arrange a gravel cushion to lift the keys off the ground. However, the experts did not have the task of making the facility as good as new. There are "traces of life" on it.
According to the author of the monument Anatoly Vyatkin, the main idea of the keyboard is communication. The monument is a reminder of freedom in a world where everything is changing, writes <url> news agency.
The monument was restored for just over a month. I had to put 104 buttons in order, each of which weighs from 100 to 500 kg.
Alexey Shakhov, a researcher of street art, in turn, noted that the fact that a journalist from The New York Times covered the "Keyboard Monument" indicates its important place on the information agenda. The main value of this art object is the love of the townspeople, thanks to which the monument has stood for two decades. This is an unprecedented period of time for a festival art object.
Anatoly Vyatkin created the "Keyboard Monument" in 2005. During its existence, the installation has become one of the most recognizable art objects in the country. In 2019, it took the second place in the ranking of monuments according to Yandex. The first one went to the "Bronze Horseman" in St. Petersburg.
In mid-October, it was reported that specialists would restore Pavilion No. 62 "Nature Protection" at VDNH to its historical appearance. The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, announced the beginning of the restoration of the facades and roof of the building in his channel in the IACH. "Special attention will be paid to the distinctive feature of the pavilion — the facade made of glass blocks," the mayor said. The lost decorative elements will also be restored on the building, including bas-reliefs, decorative large and small vases on the parapet, wooden doors and windows. The facade will be restored to its historical color, the pavilion will become light cream, and the decorative moldings, cornices, rods, and bas-reliefs will be white.
