The professor of political science noted the pacifism of Brezhnev and Brandt

Willy Brandt and Leonid Brezhnev were convinced pacifists — they understood that peace needed to be fought for. This was stated by Professor of the Department of Political Science at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Economics Yakov Plais in the press center of Izvestia during the International Conference "BREZHNEV– BRANDT: PARADOXES OF EASTERN POLITICS. On the 55th anniversary of the conclusion of the USSR–Germany peace treaty" October 31.

"What [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is doing Putin, he is doing everything to establish peace in Ukraine. But the efforts of the other side are also important," he said.

He also stressed that Russia's relations with Germany began a long time ago.
