The completion of the restart of two car factories in the Russian Federation is scheduled for 2026.

Currently, 11 of the 13 automobile plants that were abandoned by foreign companies have been restarted in Russia. The remaining two are scheduled to be launched in 2026. This was announced on October 31 by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

"Almost all the sites previously "abandoned" by foreigners have been restarted and provide jobs. The cars they produce systematically occupy the niches vacated by the departure of Western brands. In total, the full—fledged work of 11 of the 13 sites built for the production of passenger cars has been resumed," RIA Novosti quoted Manturov as saying.

So, according to him, full-cycle car production will be launched at the former General Motors plant in St. Petersburg, which was abandoned back in 2015. Negotiations with investors on sites in Shushary and Nizhny Novgorod are at the final stage, he noted.

In Kaluga, at the former Volkswagen site, a full-cycle production of cars of the Russian brand Tenet, including welding and painting, has been established. The Sollers company has adapted the vacated capacities for its own brand products. The Lada Iskra model is produced at the ex-Nissan site in St. Petersburg, and the former Hyundai plant produces cars under the Russian brand Solaris. The capacities of the Automotive Technologies site are loaded with the production of Citroen cars and the production of one of the Haval brand models.

Earlier, on October 15, it was reported that the Moskvich automobile plant plans to begin large-scale assembly of the new M70 model by the end of 2025, and the Chinese SAIC concern has become the new partner of the Russian automobile plant. Previously, the Chinese company JAC was a permanent project of the capital's enterprise, and crossovers with indexes 3 and 8, as well as liftback number 6, were produced on the basis of its cars.
