- "Conversations about important things" on November 1 — the topic and program of the lesson
On Saturday, November 1, another lesson from the series "Conversations about important things" will take place in Russian schools and colleges. It will be dedicated to equal opportunities for all people in society. Izvestia tells us how the lesson will go in different classes.
"Talking about important things" on November 1 — the topic of the lesson
The next lesson from the series "Conversations about the important" will be devoted to the topic "A society of unlimited possibilities". Its key goal is to expand students' understanding of the possibilities of self—realization in various spheres of society, including for people with disabilities. The lesson is designed to develop a respectful attitude towards all people based on humanism and mutual assistance.
An important thesis will be the idea that in modern Russia there are many ways for the self-development of children and adults, and it depends only on the person himself how these opportunities will be used. In addition, students will be invited to reflect on how the expansion of opportunities for an individual can affect the development of society as a whole.
Students will also be presented with an interview with blogger, para-athlete and member of the Public Chamber of Russia Rustam Nabiev, who, having lost the opportunity to walk, continued to actively engage in mountaineering and even entered the Guinness Book of Records as the first person to conquer Elbrus in his hands.
The duration of the lesson will be 30 minutes. The lesson will be held in the format of an educational conversation with watching videos, presentations and interactive tasks. All methodological recommendations, presentations and supporting materials for teachers are published on the official website of the Conversations about Important project.
"Conversations about important things" November 1 — lesson program
For students in grades 1-2, the lesson will begin with a conversation about the diversity of the world around them. They will discuss with the children that all people are different, but everyone is unique and beautiful, and together they form a single society. Using the example of an exclusive fragment from the new film "Pinocchio", teachers will help children analyze how important it is to support those who are not like others.
The practical part includes an interactive task "Society of Mutual Understanding" and an experiment in which children, closing their eyes, will try to imagine how people with visual impairments navigate in space.
Students in grades 3-4 will delve into the concept of society and the connections between people. They will learn how everyone's words and actions affect others, and talk about people who have managed to overcome physical limitations, leaving a mark in history. A vivid example of the power of the spirit will be the story of Russian artist Boris Kustodiev, who created his most joyful paintings while confined to a wheelchair.
A discussion of excerpts from the film "Pinocchio" and an interview with Rustam Nabiyev will help students understand the importance of support and mutual assistance. During the conversation, the children will answer questions about why it is important to try new things, not be afraid of failures, and be open to communicating with a wide variety of people.
For students in grades 5-7, the central theme will be the uniqueness of each person and the ability to accept each other. Students will learn about social projects that promote inclusivity in Russia. The practical task "The Path to the goal" will help them to distribute important skills for achieving a result (for example, time planning, curiosity) and obstacles that prevent this (fear of failure, self-doubt). At the end of the lesson, students will talk about the connection between self-development and service to the Fatherland using the example of a quote from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In grades 8-9, the conversation will focus on the concept of a just and humane society in which all people have equal rights and opportunities. They will talk to the guys about how they behave with those who are different from them. Students will examine in detail the meaning of the word "inclusion" and examples of social projects that help people with special needs to realize themselves. In the final part of the lesson, students will watch and discuss the short film "Will We?", dedicated to the life of academician Lev Pontryagin, who lost his eyesight in adolescence.
Students in grades 10-11 will discuss the value of each person and why their full self-realization is possible only in society. High school students will be invited to talk about how the principles of inclusivity and mutual assistance are applied in the modern world. The practical part includes a group assignment "The Society of our Opportunities," where high school students will be asked to develop cases on using the rules of mutual assistance in life.
At the end of the lesson, students of all ages will be invited to participate in the All—Russian marathon "Different - equal". Students will be able to talk about their own experiences of overcoming difficulties (external and internal) or share the story of a loved one facing a serious challenge. Both individual and group projects, including creative ones, are accepted for participation.
