UN Secretary General's office opposes nuclear weapons tests
The United Nations (UN) opposes nuclear weapons testing. This was announced on October 30 by Farhan Haq, deputy official representative of UN Chief Antonio Guterres.
"Nuclear tests cannot be allowed under any circumstances," he was quoted as saying on the UN website.
He noted that nuclear risks are currently very high, so it is worth avoiding actions that could lead to escalation with catastrophic consequences.
Earlier that day, US President Donald Trump instructed the US Department of War to begin testing nuclear weapons on an equal basis. Such a rush is due to the testing of their weapons by Russia and China, the countries that, according to Trump, occupy the second and third places in the development of the military-industrial complex (MIC).
Trump said that the United States and Russia are negotiating on nuclear disarmament, adding that if successful, China could join the process. He stressed that the process of denuclearization is important for global security.
US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that the US military needs to periodically test nuclear weapons. The vice president said that the United States is actively working even with countries with which they are not on the best terms to limit the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
