The grand opening of the Znanie marathon took place at the Rossiya National Center.Science, which takes place on October 30-31. The educational event brings together more than 5,000 schoolchildren, students, young scientists, and winners of All-Russian Olympiads from 80 regions of Russia, as well as Abkhazia. The organizers of the marathon are the Znanie Society and Moscow Polytechnic University with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The event is dedicated to the Decade of Science and Technology.

The event was launched by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Maxim Dreval, Director General of the Znanie Society.

Welcoming the participants, Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that among them there are schoolchildren, students, prize-winners and winners of Russian and international Olympiads.

"You have already taken a very important first step to truly be the gold reserve of our country. You have a very interesting life ahead of you, and a lot of opportunities. Many people will want to become physicists, mathematicians, chemists, biologists, and engineers. And there is a whole national goal for this in our country on behalf of the President. This is the creation of conditions for the realization of opportunities and talents. The Government is trying to do everything to ensure that such conditions exist. There has never been such a large-scale investment in the creation of scientific and educational infrastructure in the history of modern Russia.: Schools and campuses are being built all over the country, youth laboratories are being opened, new scientific equipment is being installed, and various financial support is being provided, such as grants and scholarships. In general, those who want to will definitely get the opportunity to realize themselves," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Government thanked the Znanie Society for organizing the marathon. Over the past few years, it has attracted more than 32,000 mentors who have delivered over 200,000 lectures. Online broadcasts have garnered more than 2.5 billion views. Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the high level of lecturers, emphasizing that the Znanie Society works together with the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

Valery Falkov, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science, recalled that by decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the country is hosting a Decade of Science and Technology.

"What are our goals for this decade? One of the priorities is to attract young people to science. A lot is being done in our country to achieve this, from the opening of youth laboratories, the implementation of the Priority 2030 program, and advanced engineering schools to key events such as this marathon. I am grateful to all the lecturers who will speak these days. In order to make the responsible decision to go into science, we need to know as much as possible about it," the minister said.

Valery Falkov also noted that many events are planned within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology, and invited the marathon participants to the Congress of Young Scientists, which will be held from November 26 to 28 in Sirius.

The marathon will reveal the importance of science for all spheres of human activity, from industry to culture. Young people will learn how science expands human opportunities and what prospects open up for young people in the scientific field. The participants will receive lectures, open dialogues between scientists, government officials, and heads of companies known for scientific developments. Among the lecturers are Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev, President of the Federal State Budgetary Institution National Research Center Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Grigory Trubnikov, Director of the Institute of Cognitive Research, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological and Philological Sciences of St. Petersburg State University Tatiana Chernihiv, cosmonaut Hero of Russia Andrey Borisenko, Doctor of Biological Sciences, TV presenter, Honored Professor of the Geography Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University Nikolai Drozdov and others.

In addition, during the marathon, a new Znanie TV channel will be launched, which will be available around the clock on the Tricolor operator.

On the eve of the marathon, the All-Russian educational campaign "Science around us" has started, which will cover all regions of Russia. More than 300 lectures and excursions will take place, during which schoolchildren and students will visit the country's leading scientific centers, get acquainted with their work and learn from real examples what career prospects open up for young people in science.
