On November 1, Taras Shatylko, a urologist at the Department of Andrology and Urology at the Kulakov National Research Medical Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, told Izvestia that the number of diagnosed cases of infertility in Russia is currently not growing, while the pathology detected in men is observed in only 2% of cases.

According to him, new measures to improve reproductive health in the Russian Federation should include "infertility prevention, public education and training of highly qualified specialists for different levels of care." He noted that "it is necessary to undergo regular medical examinations and preventive examinations," and since last year, these activities have included "an assessment of reproductive health, which is a good opportunity for men to detect pathology at an early stage."

The expert called the development of a support system for families with infertility problems an important component, noting that in vitro fertilization (IVF) is available in Russia in the compulsory medical insurance system, and stressed that "not every country can provide free IVF programs for its citizens."

In his conclusions, Shatylko, a urologist, paid special attention to early diagnosis in adolescents, pointing out that it "helps to identify problems in a timely manner that may lead to infertility in the future."

According to him, "regular checkups can reveal hormonal disorders and anatomical abnormalities that can affect reproductive health," and during the examination, the doctor may "suspect some genetic syndromes." The expert stressed that "it is important to strengthen prevention, form healthy habits and raise awareness of the risks of infertility among young people."

Earlier it became known that reproductologists appealed to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation with a request to introduce the concept of "Male infertility factors" into clinical recommendations in order to increase the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment.
