- For the first time, a video analytics system for data centers at traffic lights appeared in Moscow
For the first time, the Traffic Management Center (DPC) video analytics system appeared at traffic lights in Moscow. With its introduction, trams began to pass intersections 20% faster. The Metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel on October 30.
The system is able to recognize a tram on the road and gives it priority for travel. So, when he approaches the intersection, and the green phase ends, the automation extends the duration of the signal. If the tram turns red at a traffic light, the phases of green are shortened for other directions. If there are several trams, the system will provide balanced travel for all directions.
Currently, traffic lights with video analytics are operating on route No. 90, which is used by Russia's first autonomous trams. One of the first sites was the intersection of Yauzsky Boulevard, Vorontsovo Pole Street and Podkolokolny Lane. The Department of Transport emphasized that traffic on the site has become more convenient for everyone: trams, cars, pedestrians, cyclists and users of scooters.
Earlier, on September 17, it was reported that the number of road accidents in Moscow in the first eight months of 2025 decreased by 8% compared to the same period last year. The number of deaths in accidents decreased by 29%.
Prior to that, on September 11, it became known that more than 400 video analytics systems are planned to be installed on the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD), one of the most popular highways in the capital, to cover the route 100%.
