Moskvich spoke about the status of the preparation of the crossover with the index 5

The Moskvich automobile plant has not abandoned the production of a compact crossover with the index 5. According to the company's press service, the cars continue to undergo a test period of operation in the corporate fleet, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on October 30.

Back in April of this year, Moskvich announced that it had produced several hundred Moskvich 5 crossovers, and in the future the model may go into mass production, but its launch will be accepted based on the results of tests.

The Moskvich 5 is based on the Chinese JAC Sehol X6 crossover with a length of 4505 mm and a wheelbase of 2660 mm. For comparison, the Moskvich 3 has a length of 4410 mm and a wheelbase of 2620 mm. The Moskvichi 5 produced in the capital is equipped with 1.5 turbo engines (136 or 174 hp) and a CVT and has front-wheel drive.

Earlier, on October 15, it was reported that the Moskvich automobile plant plans to begin large-scale assembly of the new M70 model by the end of 2025, and the Chinese SAIC concern has become the new partner of the Russian automobile plant. Previously, the Chinese company JAC was a permanent project of the capital's enterprise, and crossovers with indexes 3 and 8, as well as liftback number 6, were produced on the basis of its cars.
