The priority of Russia's foreign policy is to build long-term multilateral relations with the countries of the African continent. This was announced on October 30 by Dmitry Vasilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, during the opening ceremony of the Russian-African Raw Materials dialogue "The Development Path.": raw materials and human resources as the basis of economic sovereignty" in St. Petersburg.
"Building long—term multilateral relations with the countries of the African continent has always been and remains a priority of our state's foreign policy," Vasilenko said.
He noted that over the past year, measures have been successfully carried out to deepen and expand Russian-African relations. Vasilenko also called the harmonious stage of the implementation of the development of such initiatives during the preparation of the Russia—Africa summit, which will be held in 2026.
Earlier, on October 16, in an interview with Izvestia, the Minister of Energy and Oil Industry of Sudan, Ibrahim Elmutasim, said that Africa was looking for ways to restore Russia's presence in the region. He noted that he had already held a meeting with Russian colleagues, in particular with the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev, at which cooperation between the countries in the field of energy, electric power, oil and many other areas was discussed.
